Job summary

Welvaart is hiring a Backend Java Developer in Lisbon, Portugal. The role focuses on developing, maintaining and evolving enterprise backend applications.

You will work in a hybrid setup, collaborating with Product Owners and multidisciplinary teams to deliver scalable, modern solutions. We seek 5+ years of backend Java experience, strong knowledge of Spring Boot, REST APIs, and databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle).

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend Java development with enterprise apps.
• Strong experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Proficient in REST APIs, relational and NoSQL databases.
• Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum and stakeholder collaboration.
• Ability to mentor juniors and document technical work.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications and services.
• Design scalable, maintainable solutions and code quality standards.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and cross-functional teams.
• Promote AI-assisted development practices and tooling.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and reviews.
• Support deployment, lifecycle management, and production support.
