Job summary

Primer is seeking a Senior Frontend Lead to own the frontend architecture for the self-serve onboarding and platform experience, with meaningful ownership over how it's built. You'll spend most of your time on frontend, with some backend work in Python, and you'll mentor engineers to raise the team's craft.

You'll join a remote-first, globally distributed Growth team that shapes onboarding, activation, and merchant experiences.

Qualifications

• Strong frontend expertise with production experience architecting and building complex frontend applications.
• Experience as the most senior frontend voice, able to push back on design/product when frontend reality demands it.
• Some backend experience and willingness to work in a Python codebase — depth isn’t required.
• Experience mentoring engineers, including people earlier in their career than you.

Responsibilities

• Lead frontend architecture and technical direction for the self-serve onboarding and platform experience, with ownership over how it's built.
• Spend roughly 80% of hands-on codebase time on frontend and 20% on backend; time split may shift based on needs.
• Partner with Design to shape onboarding and platform experience from concept to production.
• Mentor and raise the bar for engineers joining the team; be the senior frontend reference.
• Set frontend conventions and quality standards for a team still being built—architecture reviews, code quality, testing approach.
• Contribute to the Python backend where needed to unblock frontend work or ship end-to-end features.
