Aubay Portugal is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable data platforms in cloud environments. You will build robust batch and real-time pipelines, implement data architectures, and ensure data quality and security.

The role demands 7+ years of experience, strong GCP proficiency (BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub), SQL and Python/Scala capabilities, and DataOps knowledge. Hybrid work model with 2-3 days remote may apply.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of senior data engineering experience.
• Strong SQL and data modelling skills.
• Programming experience in Python or Scala.
• Experience with distributed processing (Spark/Databricks).
• GCP services including BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub.
• Experience with DataOps: Git, CI/CD, IaC (Terraform), and Docker.
• Fluency in English (B2+).
• Authorized to work in Portugal.

What will you do?

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient data platforms within cloud environments;
• Build and optimize robust batch and real-time data pipelines across various data sources and systems;
• Implement modern data architectures such as Data Lakes, Lakehouses, and Data Warehouses;
• Ensure high levels of data quality, reliability, and security, collaborating on governance and compliance;
• Support AI and Advanced Analytics initiatives by preparing and optimizing datasets for ML and GenAI solutions;
• Promote DataOps practices through automation, testing, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.

What are we looking for?

• Expertise in SQL and data modelling techniques, alongside strong programming skills in Python or Scala;
• Experience with distributed processing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Databricks, and understanding of batch and streaming data architectures;
• Familiarity with DataOps practices, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and containerization (Docker);
• Fluency in English (B2 or higher) and legal authorization to work in Portugal;
