Job summary

valantic GmbH is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and evolve a modern data lake solution for financial services. You will implement end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, SQL, Spark, NiFi, and Kafka, while ensuring data quality, security, and scalability.

Collaboration with business and IT stakeholders is essential to translate complex requirements into robust data products. You will work with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), modern data formats like Parquet, and data governance

Qualifications

• 5+ years of practical experience in data engineering or data-platform development.
• Proficient in Python and SQL with maintainable, tested code.
• Experience designing, implementing, testing, and operating production ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Hands-on with Spark and PySpark for distributed processing.
• Experience with NiFi for data ingestion, routing, and monitoring.
• Experience with Kafka for event-driven data flows.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Cloud experience with AWS and/or Azure.
• Familiarity with data lake/lakehouse architectures.
• Fluency in English; German advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate robust ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate data requirements into technical specifications.
• Develop reusable data loaders and ingestion components following governance standards.
• Ensure data quality, lineage, observability, and secure processing in financial contexts.
• Leverage GenAI tools to accelerate development tasks while maintaining governance.
