Job summary

Kraken is hiring a Senior Investigator in Portugal to lead complex investigations end to end and produce findings that regulators can rely on. You will calibrate thresholds, model reviews, and help design and integrate surveillance capabilities across products and venues.

The role requires experience with market abuse typologies and comfort using AI tools, maintaining human oversight in regulated casework. Crypto-sector experience is welcomed but not required.

Qualifications

• Experience investigating market abuse or trading conduct in a regulated firm.
• Ability to write findings regulators can rely on and present to stakeholders.
• Familiar with market abuse typologies (spoofing, wash trading, insider trading, front running, ramping).
• Experience calibrating thresholds and models; surveillance platform integration.
• Comfort using AI and automation tools while maintaining human oversight.
• Familiarity with surveillance platforms (Scila, Nasdaq SMARTS, Eventus, NICE Actimize) and SQL or similar query tools.

Responsibilities

• Own complex investigations end to end, writing findings up to a regulator-reliable standard and presenting conclusions to stakeholders.
• Lead or contribute to threshold and model reviews, recalibrating surveillance rules as trading behaviour and market structure evolve.
• Support the design, build-out and integration of surveillance platform capability, onboarding new products, venues and data sources.
