Job summary

TalentCo, in collaboration with a fast-growing AI startup, is hiring several Senior Backend Engineers to join a growing engineering team in Portugal. Roles are fully remote within Portugal, focusing on scalable backend systems powering real-time AI-driven workflows.

You will design and build enterprise-grade backend services, integrate LLMs, RAG, and automation, and collaborate with AI researchers and full-stack engineers to deliver robust solutions in a fast-paced AI-first environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience building production applications in high-bar engineering environments (startups or scale-ups).
• Backend focus with proficiency in modern web technologies, notably Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure and scalable architectures (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Understanding of AI-powered applications, including LLMs, chat interfaces, and agentic workflows.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-autonomy environment and deliver impact.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.

TalentCo are delighted to be working with a fast-growing Agentic AI startup looking to hire several high-calibre Senior Backend Engineers into their growing engineering team in the Portugal, having recently closed a significant seed funding round.

This hire can be based fully-remote anywhere in Portugal, for this Silicon Valley headquartered startup.

You will be at the forefront of building and scaling AI-powered applications, transforming how enterprises interact with intelligent agents. You’ll focus on developing scalable back-end systems that power real-time AI-driven workflows.

This role requires strong software engineering skills, a deep understanding of backend development, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, AI-first environment. You’ll collaborate with AI engineers, AI researchers, full-stack engineers and product teams to build enterprise-grade solutions that enable seamless AI-human interactions.

We want to hear from you if you have:
