A European leader in digital services is looking for an API Manager in Lisbon. In this role, you will design and implement an API framework across business areas, supporting teams in developing external-facing APIs. You will help establish a Design Authority in Portugal, providing guidelines and best practices. The ideal candidate has strong Java skills, API expertise, and knowledge of Spring frameworks, along with a good understanding of French. Responsabilidades

• Design and implement an API framework for multiple business areas.

Conhecimentos

Understanding of APIs, API Composition, BFF, API Gateway

Design Java services in a microservices ecosystem

API documentation expertise (Swagger, OpenAPI)

Write technical best practices

Proficiency with Java 8–11

Knowledge of Spring Boot (v2+)

Expertise with Spring Data, JPA, Hibernate

Expertise with Spring Security

Understanding of API authentication and authorization

Build POCs and simple examples

Awareness of API monitoring

Assist in API architecture and design

Experience with API performance optimization

Good understanding of French

Job Description

As an API Manager, you will be part of a team responsible for designing and implementing an API framework for multiple business areas across the CA Group.

You will support different teams in developing external‑facing APIs, providing:

• core building blocks
• documentation
• best practices
• training on API adoption
  
  

The team operates using Agile methodology (sprints) and collaborates closely with a remote Team Lead.

In the long term, this role will help establish a Design Authority extension in Portugal, supporting guidelines, best practices, and future recruitment.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of APIs, API Composition, BFF, API Gateway
• Ability to design Java services and components in a microservices ecosystem
• API documentation expertise: Swagger, OpenAPI (JSON/YAML)
• Ability to write and structure technical best practices
• Strong proficiency with Java 8–11
• Excellent knowledge of Spring Boot (v2+), Spring Data, JPA, Hibernate
• Strong expertise with Spring Security
• Understanding of API authentication and authorization
• Ability to build POCs and simple Hello World examples
• Awareness of API monitoring
• Capability to assist in API architecture and reusable API design
• Experience with API performance optimization
