Job summary

Softlanding seeks a Senior Analytics & Reporting Developer to design, develop, and deliver business-facing reports, dashboards, and analytics using Power BI and Databricks. The role transforms business requirements into actionable insights by leveraging advanced reporting capabilities, semantic modeling, DAX, and Databricks SQL.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Power BI development and optimization.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Analytics & Reporting Developer to design, develop, and deliver business-facing reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions using Power BI and Databricks. The successful candidate will transform business requirements into actionable insights by leveraging advanced reporting capabilities, semantic modeling, DAX, and Databricks SQL.

The role involves working closely with business stakeholders, Data Architects, and Data Engineers to deliver trusted, high-performance reporting solutions on top of a Databricks Lakehouse platform. The candidate will also explore AI-enabled analytics capabilities to enhance self-service reporting and conversational analytics.

Key Responsibilities

1. Reporting and Dashboard Development

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive reports, dashboards, and scorecards using Power BI and Databricks SQL.
• Build business-facing dashboards using native Databricks reporting capabilities, including Databricks Dashboards.
• Develop and maintain semantic models, reusable datasets, and reporting data models.
• Create advanced calculations, KPIs, business metrics, and performance indicators using DAX.

2. Analytics and Business Insights

• Translate business requirements into effective analytical solutions and reporting capabilities.
• Develop executive-level and operational dashboards to support business performance monitoring and decision-making.
• Design consistent KPI definitions, business metrics, and reporting standards across multiple reporting assets.
• Enable self-service analytics by providing trusted datasets and intuitive reporting solutions.
• Communicate analytical findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

3. Databricks Analytics and Reporting

• Develop, maintain, and optimize analytical SQL queries, views, and datasets within Databricks.
• Build and maintain Databricks Dashboards using Databricks SQL and SQL Warehouses.
• Consume curated Gold-layer datasets and semantic models from the Lakehouse platform.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to define reporting requirements and ensure data readiness for analytics.
• Apply data modeling and query optimization techniques to support large-scale reporting workloads.
• Ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability across Power BI and Databricks reporting solutions.

4. Requirements Gathering and Stakeholder Management

• Conduct requirements-gathering sessions, stakeholder interviews, and business workshops.
• Understand business processes and translate reporting needs into functional and technical specifications.
• Facilitate discussions with business users to define KPIs, metrics, dashboard layouts, and reporting priorities.
• Validate reporting solutions with stakeholders and incorporate feedback through iterative delivery.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment between business objectives and technical implementation.

5. AI-Enabled Analytics

• Evaluate and implement AI-assisted reporting and analytics capabilities.
• Leverage Power BI Copilot, Databricks Genie, and relevant Microsoft Fabric AI features where appropriate.
• Support conversational analytics and natural-language querying to improve access to business insights.
• Explore opportunities to accelerate report development, insight generation, and self-service analytics through AI-enabled capabilities.

6. Collaboration and Agile Delivery

• Work closely with Data Architects, Data Engineers, BI teams, and business stakeholders.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Maintain documentation covering report specifications, KPI definitions, semantic models, and business logic.
• Follow established standards for development, testing, deployment, and ongoing report maintenance.
