Tonic App, S.A is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design, build, and maintain AI-powered products, collaborating with product, data, and engineering to ship reliable AI capabilities.

You will own end-to-end delivery of AI features, optimize performance and costs, and contribute to MLOps, security, and regulatory compliance in medical device contexts.

Qualificações

• Advanced degree in CS, AI, DS, or related field.
• 5+ years of ML/AI engineering experience.
• Proficient in Python and ML/GenAI frameworks; experience integrating LLMs into scalable workflows.
• Full-stack capability to build backend APIs and production workflows.
• Knowledge of AI ethics and responsible AI preferred.
• Strong analytical and collaborative skills; English proficiency.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to design, build, and maintain our AI-based products, working closely with product, data, and engineering to ship reliable, production-grade AI capabilities.

What you will do

• Build and maintain backend services/APIs for AI features in production.
• Monitor, debug, and iterate on deployed models/pipelines based on production performance and user feedback.
• Optimize LLM inference cost and latency.
• Ensure the adoption of best practices in MLOps, security, and scalability.
• Contribute to evaluation frameworks, including benchmarking, performance metrics, and validation in regulated environments (e.g. medical devices).
• Contribute to robust technical documentation and support compliance with regulatory certification requirements.
• Foster a mindset of curiosity, innovation, and technical excellence inside the team.

What we are looking for

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in ML/AI engineering.
• Proficiency in python and modern ML/GenAI frameworks such as LangChain (or equivalents), with practical experience integrating LLMs into scalable product workflows (e.g., vector databases, embedding pipelines, orchestration, tracing, observability).
• Solid full-stack engineering capability, including building backend APIs/services, integrating models into production workflows, and basic competence in frontend development to test and validate product experiences.
• Ability to own delivery of AI features end-to-end, from spec through production deployment.
• Knowledge of AI ethics and responsible AI is valued.
• Excellent analytical skills, with a sound engineering judgment and hands-on mindset, balancing quality with delivery speed.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams and regulated environments.
• Work proficiency in English.
