Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline.
• Qualified Certified Accountant (Contabilista Certificado) and member of Ordem dos Contabilistas Certificados (preferred or required).
• Minimum 3 years' experience in accounting, financial reporting and Portuguese tax compliance.
• Strong knowledge of Portuguese GAAP, corporate tax, VAT and statutory reporting requirements.
• Experience managing multiple clients and priorities in a professional services environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Experience using accounting and ERP systems.
• Fluent Portuguese and English communication, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping for a portfolio of Portuguese and international clients.
• Review records for compliance with Portuguese GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting packages.
• Coordinate and prepare statutory financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Prepare, review and submit corporate tax returns, VAT returns and other regulatory filings.
• Act as Certified Accountant where applicable, including signing and submission of statements and declarations.
• Build and maintain client relationships as a trusted contact for accounting matters.
• Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, banks and external stakeholders.
• Mentor and review junior team members' work and support their development.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and improve efficiencies.
• Ensure all client deliverables are completed on time.
