Job summary

SAP ABAP SENIOR DEVELOPER (HYBRID PORTO)

Location: Matosinhos, Porto, Portugal

Only candidates already based in Portugal will be considered

Work Model: Hybrid — 2–3 days onsite per week

Working Hours: 09:00–18:00

Language Requirements: English B2+ and Portuguese C2 required | French desirable

Seniority: Senior (6+ Years)

Rate Between €4300 – 5200 RV or unipessoal / €2500–3300 CTI (gross value) (depending on demonstrated experience)

About The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior SAP ABAP Developer to join an international SAP environment supporting business operations across several European countries.

The project is based on SAP ECC 6.0 and focuses primarily on maintaining existing solutions, resolving technical issues, supporting RUN activities, and implementing small developments and enhancements.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on ABAP developer with solid experience in SAP ECC, capable of understanding an existing environment and becoming productive quickly. The position does not require advanced SAP architecture expertise or highly complex technical specializations. The priority is practical ABAP development experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance ABAP programs within SAP ECC 6.0.
• Provide technical support for day-to-day RUN operations.
• Analyse and resolve incidents involving existing ABAP developments.
• Maintain and adjust standard custom developments, reports, interfaces, enhancements, and forms.
• Perform debugging and root cause analysis of technical issues.
• Implement change requests and small technical improvements.
• Support existing SAP integrations when required.
• Collaborate with SAP functional consultants, particularly SD/MM teams.
• Translate functional specifications into ABAP developments.
• Perform unit testing and support functional and integration testing.
• Maintain technical documentation and follow SAP development standards.
• Work independently within distributed international teams.

Profile Required

• Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development.
• Proven experience working with SAP ECC 6.0.
• Solid knowledge of standard ABAP development, debugging, and maintenance.
• Experience developing and maintaining reports, interfaces, enhancements, and forms.
• Familiarity with common SAP development techniques, such as BAPIs, RFCs, User Exits, BAdIs, and IDocs.
• Experience supporting productive SAP environments, including RUN operations and incident resolution.
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain existing custom developments.
• Experience implementing small changes and enhancements.
• Experience with SAP SD/MM-related developments is valued.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal onboarding.
• Good communication skills and experience collaborating with international teams.
• English B2+ mandatory.

Important: We are not looking for an SAP Technical Architect or a specialist in highly complex SAP developments. Strong practical ABAP skills, previous SAP ECC experience, and autonomy in resolving incidents and implementing small changes are the main priorities.

Ideal Profile

A hands-on ABAP developer with solid SAP ECC experience, strong troubleshooting skills and autonomy in production support. The priorities are maintaining existing solutions, resolving incidents and delivering small improvements. Advanced SAP architecture expertise or highly complex development specialisations are not required.
