MOV.AI is seeking a hands-on Robotics QA Engineer to validate the quality, reliability, and safety-related behavior of our Autonomous Mobile Robot software platform. This role combines ROS-based test automation, test management, failure analysis, and collaboration with Robotics, Backend, Frontend, and DevOps teams.

The ideal candidate understands robotic systems, simulations, and software validation in complex environments, and will focus on delivering repeatable validation for robot workflows

Qualificações

  • Robotics experience with robot software systems and navigation/localization concepts.
  • Python-based automated validation development and data extraction/analysis.
  • Simulation-based regression testing to validate robot behavior.
  • Traceability of verification activities across releases and tests.

Responsabilidades

  • Validate robot behavior in simulation environments and on real hardware where applicable.
  • Develop automated Python-based validation scripts and maintain regression suites.
  • Execute, maintain and map test coverage to software releases.
  • Analyze ROS bags, logs, and simulation outputs to reproduce defects.
  • Collaborate with Robotics, Backend, Frontend, and DevOps teams to improve product quality.
  • Support release readiness assessments and risk-based testing.

Role Summary (Executive Overview)

We are looking for a hands-on Robotics QA Engineer responsible for validating the quality,reliability, and safety-related behavior of our Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) software platform.

This role combines:

  • ROS-based test automation
  • Test management and traceability
  • Failure analysis and root cause investigation
  • Collaboration with Robotics, Backend, Frontend, and DevOps teams
  • Structured quality processes and release validation
Important:

This is not a traditional manual QA role and not a web application testing role.

The ideal candidate understands robotic systems, simulations, system interactions, and softwarevalidation in complex environments.

What We Really Need (Core Candidate DNA)

The ideal candidate brings four key dimensions:

  • Understands how robotic software behaves in real and simulated environments
  • Thinks in robot behavior, state machines, navigation flows, and sensor interactions
  • Comfortable validating complete robot workflows, not only isolated functions
  • Understands the difference between software defects, configuration issues, and environmentalconditions
Critical:

This role is best suited to candidates with experience beyond web application testing.

2. Simulation-Based Validation Expert
  • Understands the value and limitations of simulation
  • Able to create repeatable and automated validation scenarios
  • Comfortable working with Gazebo / Ignition environments
  • Understands robot-world interactions, sensors, localization, navigation, and obstacle avoidance concepts

Must be capable of:

  • Defining realistic test scenarios
  • Validating system behavior across software releases
  • Translating customer issues into automated simulation tests
3. Structured Quality Engineer
  • Passionate about traceability and repeatability
  • Can organize large test suites across multiple product releases

Strong understanding of:

  • Release validation
Important:

We need somebody who brings engineering rigor to quality assurance.

  • Reads logs, ROS bags, and diagnostic outputs
  • Works closely with developers to reproduce and isolate issues
Strong expectation:
  • ~70% hands-on validation and automation work
No Go:

Candidates who only execute predefined manual test scripts and cannot investigate technical issues independently.

MUST-HAVE SKILLS (Non-Negotiable)
Robotics
  • Experience working with robots and robotic software systems
  • Navigation and localization concepts
Python Automation
  • Automated testing development

  • Simulation-based regression testing

What the Candidate Will Actually Do
  • Validate robot behavior in simulation environments
  • Develop automated Python-based validation scripts
  • Execute and maintain regression test suites
  • Verify navigation, localization, obstacle avoidance, and safety-related functionality
  • Interact directly with ROS Topics, Services, and Actions during test execution
  • Analyse ROS bags, application logs, and simulation output
  • Investigate defects and support root cause analysis
  • Maintain structured test repositories and Jira test cycles
  • Map software releases against test coverage and validation results
  • Collaborating with Robotics, Backend, and Customer Success teams to improve product quality
  • Support release readiness assessments
Dealbreakers
  • No robotics software experience
  • No Jira-based test management experience
  • Unable to analyze technical failures independently
  • No interest in working hands-on with robotic systems
Position Framework
Reporting Line

Reports to the QA Team Lead or directly to the Director R&D, depending on the final organizational structure.

  • Works closely with Robotics Team, QA Team, DevOps Team, Product Management
  • Plays a key role in enabling:
  • Robust and stable AMR behavior
  • Safe and secure AMR operations
  • Granting customer-oriented usability of Robotics Stack
Work Arrangements
  • This position requires regular on-site presence at the Company's office for a minimum of three (3) working days per week.
  • The remaining working days may be performed remotely, subject to business requirements
