Overview

Champalimaud Foundation (Fundação D. Anna de Sommer Champalimaud e Dr. Carlos Montez Champalimaud), a private, non-profit research institution in Lisbon, Portugal, is looking for a Research technician to join our team at the Champalimaud Research Program.

The selected candidate will participate in running in vivo and in vitro experiments aimed at studying the mechanisms involved in cancer formation. This position will include a broad and evolving range of tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Genotyping mice
  • DNA extraction, primer design, PCR, gels
  • Colony management
  • Mice handling and treatment
  • Designing and keeping track of the breedings, weaning and cage use
  • Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescent stainings
  • Cell culture
  • Lab orders
Requirements

Education: Master Degree or equivalent in Biological sciences.

Skills/Qualifications
  • Minimum qualifications: Master in Science
  • Ability to work independently on defined day-to-day research tasks
  • Experimental research experience
  • Experience handling and treating mouse models of cancer
  • Knowledge on genetic mouse models of cancer
  • Good capacity for teamwork, critical thinking and communication skills
  • High level organisational skills
  • Commitment to research integrity in line with the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity

Desirable skills that will also be considered:

  • Knowledge of PYRAT animal facility software
  • Experience in optimising PCR protocols for mouse genotyping
  • Interest in cancer and immunology
Languages

Eligibility and Selection

National, Foreign or Stateless candidates who hold a master degree in Biology and Biotechnology or related health-related fields and have a relevant scientific and professional background.

In case of PhD degrees awarded by foreign institutions, degrees must comply with local requirements. Candidates will be screened for eligibility based on minimum qualifications and then scored by application materials: CV (70%), motivation letter (20%), interview (10%). Referees may be contacted.
