O Centro de Investigação e Estudos de Sociologia (CIES-Iscte), dentro da ASSOCIACAO ISCTE CONHECIMENTO E INOVACAO - CENTRO DE VALORIZACAO E TRANSFERENCIA DE TECNOLOGIAS, abre uma edição de bolsa de doutoramento para o âmbito do projeto KWI_SIRUK.

Os candidatos devem possuir mestrado em Sociologia, Psicologia Social ou Geografia Social e estar inscritos num doutoramento. Requerem domínio de Português e Inglês, falado e escrito, com preferência por experiência em SPSS, MAXQDA e análise de dados.

Qualifications

• Master degree em Sociologia, Psicologia Social ou Geografia Social e matrícula num doutoramento.
• Escola de pesquisa com experiência em análise de dados e redação de relatórios.
• Experiência em questionários e em métodos de entrevista/ethnografia.

Responsibilities

• Dar apoio a atividades de pesquisa no âmbito do projeto, incluindo tratamento estatístico de questionários.
• Auxiliar na preparação de outputs do projeto, relatórios estatísticos e artigos científicos.
• Proporcionar apoio administrativo e científico, gestão de atividades do projeto.
• Conduzir, transcrever e analisar entrevistas; apoiar workshops participativos e eventos.
• Participar em reuniões de equipa e na organização de disseminação dos resultados.

The Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte), within the scope of the Iscte Association - Knowledge and Innovation, opens a call for the award of one (1) Research Grant for a Doctoral Student within the scope of the project KWI_SIRUK - Knowing, welcoming, including: socio-school inclusion of children and young people refugees from Ukraine, project no. 2023.17383.ICDT whose funding was approved by FCT, I.P., under the following conditions:

• Admission Requirements
• Candidates must hold a master's degree in the areas of Sociology, Social Psychology or Social Geography and and be enrolled in a doctoral programme in one of these areas (according to Article 6 of the Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P., Reg. No. 950/2019).
• Spoken and written command of Portuguese and English.

Preferential Factors:

• a) Experience in the use of SPSS software or similar;
• b) Proven experience in data analysis and report writing;
• c) Experience in the application and analysis of questionnaire surveys;
• d) Experience in the use of MAXQDA software or similar;
• e) Experience in conducting and analyzing interviews and ethnographic work;
• f) Experience in the scientific management of research projects and project social networks;
• g) Interest in carrying out PhD and/or research work in the thematic area of the project;

• Work Plan:

The work plan is based on support for research activities within the scope of the project KWI_SIRUK - Know, welcome, include: socio-school inclusion of children and young people refugees from Ukraine, namely: monitoring the application of questionnaire surveys in the field and online and respective statistical treatment; support in the preparation of project outputs, especially statistical reports and scientific articles; administrative and scientific support and management of the project; conduction, transcription and analysis of interviews; support in the promotion of participatory workshops and other community initiatives; support and participation in team meetings and in the organization of events to promote and disseminate the project, ensuring timely work and within the parameters set out in the project plan.

• Applicable legislation and regulations:

Statute of the Scientific Research Grant Holder, approved by Law No. 40/2004, of 18 August, as amended, namely with the amendments introduced by Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of 28 August; and by Decree-Law No. 65/2024, of 1 October; Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P., approved by Regulation No. 950/2019, of 16 December, in its current wording, republished by Notice (extract) No. 412/2026/2, of 7 January; Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of 16 August, which approves the legal regime for the recognition of academic degrees and higher education diplomas awarded by foreign higher education institutions, in its current wording, including the amendments introduced by Decree-Law No. 86/2023, of 10 October; and other applicable legislation and regulations.

• Workplace:

The work will be developed at the Center for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte), of the Iscte Knowledge and Innovation Association, under the scientific supervision of Professor Maria Manuela Mendes.

• Duration of the fellowship:

The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months, scheduled to start in December 2026, renewable up to the maximum limit of the approved funding or up to the maximum duration of this type of fellowship (whichever occurs first), and may not in any case exceed the limits of paragraphs 3 and 6 of article 7 of Regulation no. 950/2019, of 29 November, published in Diário da República, no. 241, 2nd Series, of 16 December (Regulation of Research Grants of FCT, I.P.).

• Amount of the monthly maintenance allowance:

The amount of the scholarship, on an exclusive and full-time basis, corresponds to €1,359.64, according to the table of scholarships awarded directly or indirectly by FCT, I.P. in the country ( https://www.fct.pt/wp-content /uploads/2025/02/Tabela_valores_SMM_2025.pdf ), paid monthly by bank transfer to the holder. The scholarship holder may also be reimbursed the amount corresponding to the Voluntary Social Security, in case of joining this regime.

• Methods of selection and evaluation of applications:

The evaluation will be carried out based on the Candidate's Merit (MC), taking into account three sub-criteria:

• Academic qualifications (0 to 30 points);
• Academic and professional curriculum (0 to 50 points);
• Motivation letter (0 to 20 points).

The classification of the Candidate's Merit (MC) will be obtained by applying the following formula: MC = a + b + c The three candidates with the best score may be admitted to the Interview (ENT), in which the Jury will evaluate the following sub-criteria:

• Interpersonal skills (0 to 30 points)
• Demonstrated knowledge in the area to be applied (0 to 40 points)
• Motivation (0 to 20 points)
• Language skills (0 to 10 points)

The Interview classification (ENT) will be obtained by applying the following formula: ENT = a + b + c + d

In case of an interview, the final classification (CF) of the Candidate's Merit (MC) and Interview (ENT) will be obtained by applying the following formula: CF = (MC*0.65) + (ENT*0.35).

If the interview is not held, the final classification (CF) will correspond to 100% of the evaluation obtained in the Candidate's Merit (MC).

• invite the candidate with the highest score to the position in question, following the order established in the final ranking list, whenever the selected candidate does not meet the requirements for the formalization of the contract or in case of unavailability;
• not award the scholarship if none of the candidates corresponds to the desired profile. 9.9. This call may be terminated until the approval of the final ranking list of candidates, remaining valid for the duration of the project.
• Composition of the Selection Jury:

• Form of publication/notification of results:
• The results of the evaluation are disclosed within a maximum period of 90 working days from the deadline for submission of applications, by notifying candidates by email to the email address indicated in the application process.
• Candidates are informed, at a prior hearing, under the terms enshrined in the Code of Administrative Procedure, of the probable meaning of the final decision, and may, within 10 working days from this notification, comment on this decision.

If the academic degree was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must be formally recognized

by a Portuguese higher education institution, in accordance with Article 25 of Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16

August, which establishes the legal framework for the recognition of foreign academic degrees and diplomas,

and with paragraph (e) of no. 2 of Article 4 of Decree-Law no. 60/2018 of 3 August. All required formalities

must be completed by the date of contract signature.
