Evil Martians is hiring a fully remote Ruby Backend Engineer to join our distributed team. We offer a gross annual salary of $65K–$110K, with relocation support to Portugal and a strong emphasis on async communication and work-life balance.

We value performance optimization, PostgreSQL mastery, and a polyglot mindset across Go, TypeScript, Elixir, and Rust. You will work on architecture decisions, own your tasks, and contribute to open-source projects and conferences.

Qualificações

• Strong Ruby on Rails experience with a focus on performance optimization.
• Deep PostgreSQL expertise; familiarity with Redis/Elasticsearch a plus.
• Ability to manage large, evolving codebases and drive modern software engineering practices.
• Comfort working async, with clear written communication and proactive collaboration.

Responsabilidades

• Explain architectural decisions and trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Work as a manager of one, owning tasks end-to-end in a remote, distributed team.
• Develop and optimize Ruby/Rails backend services; contribute to microservices when needed.
• Collaborate across Go, TypeScript, Elixir, and Rust components as required.
