Welo Data, part of Welocalize, is seeking experienced linguists for a Translation Validation role focused on Portuguese (Portugal). You will compare English source documents with two machine-generated translations, select the preferred version, and provide written justification, while also reviewing audio files and transcriptions.

This freelance, fully remote role offers a 2-week commitment and a pay rate of $10/hour. Strong Portuguese and English skills, plus attention to detail, are essential.

Qualifications

• Native-level fluency in Portuguese (written and spoken).
• Strong written communication in target language.
• Proficiency in English.
• Background in linguistics, translation, or language quality assessment preferred.
• Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and consistency.
• Familiarity with Romanized script conventions is a plus (for transliteration tasks).

Responsibilities

• Review English source documents alongside two machine-generated Portuguese translations.
• Evaluate variants based on accuracy, fluency, and overall translation quality.
• Select the preferred translation and provide a clear written justification.
• Review audio files and their transcriptions, evaluating accuracy, completeness, and overall quality.
• Assess transcription quality and audio quality according to project guidelines.
• Complete assigned samples independently and within established timelines.
• Adhere strictly to project and client guidelines.
