Job summary

Ecojob in Lisbon is seeking a Reference Librarian to provide reference and research services to students, faculty, and community members. You will answer reference questions, conduct research, and assist patrons with finding resources in print and online.

The role requires a Librarian with strong catalog and database knowledge, excellent research and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team. The position is based in Lisbon and does not include accommodation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a librarian.
• Strong knowledge of library cataloging systems and online databases.
• Excellent research skills and ability to assist patrons with information needs.
• Familiarity with reference resources such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, and atlases.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to reference inquiries from library patrons in person, over the phone, or via email.
• Assist patrons with finding information using the library's catalog system and online databases.
• Provide instruction on how to use resources effectively for research purposes.
• Conduct in-depth research for complex reference questions using various sources including print and online materials.
• Collaborate with other librarians to develop new programs or services that meet the needs of library users.
• Evaluate and select new reference materials to add to the library's collection.
• Keep up-to-date with developments in the field of librarianship through professional development opportunities.
