Uma universidade de prestígio em Portugal está a recrutar um investigador(a) para uma bolsa de pesquisa na área das ciências biomédicas. O candidato ideal deve ter um mestrado em Farmácia ou áreas relacionadas, com experiência em culturas celulares e vesículas extracelulares. O projeto REBORN busca desenvolver um patch cardíaco multifuncional visando a prevenção da insuficiência cardíaca. A posição é de trabalho em tempo integral e a remuneração é de 1.309,64€ por mês.

Offer Description

The University of Coimbra opens a call for the assignment of a research grant, with one position(s), under the project REBORN - Remodelling of the Infarcted Heart: Piezoelectric Multifunctional Patch Enabling the Sequential Release of Therapeutic Factors.

The call is governed by this Notice of Opening, the University of Coimbra Research Grant Regulations (RBI-UC), subsidiarily by the Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology (RBI-FCT), by the Research Fellow Statute (EBI), by the Norms for Grant Assignment and Management within R&D Projects, by the Code of Administrative Procedure (CPA), all in their current wording, and by other applicable national and community legislation.

Eligibility and Admission
  1. I - Legal admission requirements
  • I.I - Grant Recipients: Master’s degree holders in the scientific area of Pharmacy, biomedical research, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, and similar areas, enrolled in a non-degree-granting course.
  • I.II - The non-degree-granting course must be related to the type of activity covered by the grant. Non-degree-granting courses are defined as those referred to in subparagraph e) of paragraph 3 of Article 4 of Decree-Law No. 74/2006, in its current wording, provided that, under subparagraph e) of Article 3 of RBI-FCT, they are developed in association or cooperation between the higher education institution and one or more R&D units.
  • I.III - Ineligible candidates: Candidates enrolled in non-degree-granting courses who have already benefited from a grant contract and who, with this grant assignment, including possible renewals, exceed a total accumulated period of two consecutive or non-consecutive years in this type of grant.
  • I.IV - Eligible for grant assignment if meeting the requirements: a) Portuguese nationals or nationals of other EU Member States, b) Nationals of third countries, c) Stateless persons, d) Beneficiaries of political refugee status. When the work plan takes place, in whole or in part, in foreign institutions, only candidates who can prove permanent and habitual residence in Portugal at the start of the grant are eligible.

IV - Work Plan / Goals to be achieved: The project REBORN aims to provide a multifunctional, smart cardiac patch that, when translated to the clinic, is expected to significantly prevent heart failure in patients surviving an acute MI, reducing mortality and enhancing their quality of life. The candidate will contribute for: (i) isolation and characterisation of extracellular vesicles, (ii) modification of extracellular vesicles with drugs and (iii) the evaluation of the modified extracellular vesicles in cellular models.

  4. VI.III - In addition to the above amounts, voluntary social security (SSV) is included when the grant has a duration of six months or more, corresponding to the first level, if the candidate opts for it, as well as mandatory personal accident insurance.
  5. VI.IV - Funding: The grant(s) assigned under this call will be funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe Program | REBORN Project, Grant Agreement No. 101091852.

  1. VII - Selection Methods
  2. VII.I - AR - Evaluation of the academic record with criteria and weights: Adequacy of profile to the work plan; nanotechnologies, cell culture and extracellular vesicles experience are advantageous.
  3. VII.II - I – Evaluation of the interview: Ability to express oneself, verbal fluency, motivation and interest.
  4. VII.III - Scoring: AR and I combined to 0-100 with described formulas.
  5. VII.IV - All candidates meeting admission requirements are subject to academic record evaluation.
  6. VII.V - Candidates scoring below 50 in any method are excluded; those scoring above 50 proceed to interview.
  7. VII.VI - Tie-breaking criteria: based on first method score, then academic qualifications.
  8. VII.VII - Jury decisions published on the Apply UC platform.
  9. VII.VIII - Provisional and final decisions justified and published.
  1. VIII- Application Submission

  • Mandatory documents: CV, degree certificates; proof of degree recognition if required; sworn statements allowed in some cases; evidence of prior grant benefits if possible.
