Bekaert is seeking an R&D Scientist to join the polymer technologies team within the Technology & Innovation group. You will develop and improve advanced materials and processes in polymers, fibers, coatings, and hybrid systems to support energy transition and new mobility.

You will translate scientific understanding into scalable products, design test programs, collaborate with operations and external partners, and mentor junior staff while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualificações

• Master’s or PhD in Sciences/Engineering; industrial R&D experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and drive tasks to completion.
• Proven ability to lead, guide and support team members in technical work.
• Strong communication and analytical skills for clear documentation.
• Experience engaging with external universities and research institutes.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and execute product and process development and improvement projects in polymer technologies.
• Develop deep scientific and application understanding of material properties and failure modes.
• Translate customer and business needs into structured technical problem statements.
• Design, develop, and execute laboratory and pilot-scale testing programs.
• Scout, evaluate, and integrate new materials and technologies aligned with strategic roadmap.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and commercial teams across development to industrialization.
• Work with external partners such as suppliers and research institutes to support innovation.
• Prepare technical documentation, data analysis, and presentations for stakeholders.
• Mentor technicians and junior team members in project execution.
• Support continuous improvement of laboratory capabilities and safety culture.
