Hexa Consulting in Lisbon is seeking a Senior Quality Engineering Architect - Automation & AI to join our client’s team in a hybrid work model from Lisbon.

Define end-to-end quality architectures across multiple applications and teams, develop reusable frameworks, and operationalize AI agents and LLM-based workflows with governance.

Requires 8+ years in software/quality engineering, architecture leadership for delivery, and strong English/Portuguese communication.

Qualificações

• At least 8 years of experience in Software/Quality Engineering or Test Automation.
• Including at least 3 years with architecture and technical delivery.
• Experience designing, implementing and opertationalizing quality engineering solutions across applications and teams.
• Strong software engineering capability including modular design, automated testing, debugging and code reviews.
• Experience defining test architecture across APIs, UI and system integrations.
• Experience implementing at least one LLM or agent-based solution with evaluation and human oversight.
• Ability to evaluate architecture decisions across reliability, scalability, maintainability, security and operating costs.
• Experience providing technical direction to engineers and communicating architecture decisions to stakeholders.
• Professional working proficiency in Portuguese and English.

Responsabilidades

• Define end-to-end quality engineering architectures across multiple applications and teams, covering automation, orchestration, integrations, test data, environments and observability.
• Design and implement reusable frameworks, services, connectors and platform components while establishing engineering standards and supporting architecture and code reviews.
• Structure quality workflows across test design, data preparation, execution, failure analysis, maintenance, re-execution and release evidence.
• Develop and operationalize AI agents and LLM-based workflows for requirements analysis, scenario generation, coverage assessment, failure diagnosis and controlled self-healing, with appropriate evaluation, traceability, privacy and human oversight.
• Integrate automated quality controls into CI/CD pipelines, including quality gates, risk indicators and actionable feedback mechanisms.
• Define test environment and test data approaches that enable repeatable and parallel execution under representative conditions.
• Take solutions from architecture and proof of concept through implementation and sustained operational adoption, considering scalability, resilience, security, maintainability and operating costs.
• Collaborate with quality, software development and platform engineering professionals to transform functional requirements into maintainable validation assets and coordinated engineering workflows.
• Provide technical direction, communicate architecture decisions and trade-offs to technical and business stakeholders, and assess the measurable impact of implemented solutions.

Lisbon (Tagus Park area), Portugal | Hybrid - 3 days/week on-site | Quality Engineering, Test Automation & AI

Mandatory Requirements

• At least 8 years of relevant experience in Software Engineering, Quality Engineering or Test Automation, including at least 3 years with direct responsibility for architecture and technical delivery.
• Proven experience designing, implementing and operationalizing quality engineering or automation solutions across integrated applications and multiple teams.
• Strong software engineering capability, including modular design, automated testing, systematic debugging and code review practices.
• Experience defining test architecture and validation strategies across APIs, user interfaces and system integrations.
• Practical experience implementing at least one LLM or agent-based solution in operational use, including evaluation, failure handling, traceability and human oversight.
• Ability to evaluate architecture decisions across reliability, scalability, maintainability, security, implementation effort, operating costs and measurable value.
• Experience providing technical direction to engineers and communicating complex architecture decisions to both technical and business stakeholders.
• Professional working proficiency in Portuguese and English.

Nice to Have

• Experience developing shared engineering platforms, frameworks or accelerators used across multiple projects or teams.
• Experience with test data management, service virtualization and dependency management in complex enterprise environments.
• Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation, tool calling, agent orchestration and observability.
• Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Jira/Xray or Azure DevOps.
