Job summary

Quion in Porto is seeking a QA Lead to coordinate day‑to‑day testing efforts, drive automation strategy, and coach Test Specialists. You will bridge Porto and Capelle aan den IJssel, shaping testing quality across value streams while advancing reusable automation and CI/CD practices.

You will lead test design, execution and data strategies, partner with Product Owners and delivery teams in a dynamic Agile environment, and contribute hands‑on when needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing and maintaining automated test solutions.
• Experience in software testing and test automation, including test design, test execution and maintenance of automated tests.
• Experience with reusable, compliant test data and test environment management.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the execution of the Test Enablement backlog and ensure predictable delivery.
• Plan and distribute work across Test Specialists based on priorities, capacity and expertise.
• Monitor progress, quality risks, dependencies and impediments, and accelerate where required.
• Provide technical guidance and coaching on testing, quality engineering and test automation.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, QA Engineers, delivery teams and other stakeholders in Porto and the Netherlands.

To support our continued growth, we are expanding our Porto Quality Engineering and Test Enablement capability and are looking for a QA Lead to join our Porto office.

What will you do?

As a QA Lead, you play a key role in coordinating the day-to-day activities of our Test Specialists and ensuring predictable, high-quality delivery. You translate priorities into clear plans, coordinate work across teams, monitor progress and dependencies, and provide hands‑on technical leadership where needed. You act as the operational bridge between Porto and Capelle aan den Ijssel and the different value streams, helping teams deliver high-quality software while continuously improving testing, automation and quality engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the execution of the Test Enablement backlog and ensure predictable delivery.
• Plan and distribute work across Test Specialists based on priorities, capacity and expertise.
• Monitor progress, quality risks, dependencies and impediments, and accelerate where required.
• Provide technical guidance and coaching on testing, quality engineering and test automation.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, QA Engineers, delivery teams and other stakeholders in Porto and the Netherlands.
• Promote knowledge sharing, technical standards and consistent ways of working.
• Drive the adoption of reusable test automation, quality controls and CI/CD quality practices.
• Monitor and report on automation coverage, regression status and quality risks.
• Support the implementation of improvements in tooling, test data, environments and reporting.
• Contribute hands‑on to complex testing and automation activities where needed.

You enjoy coaching specialists, removing obstacles and continuously looking for ways to improve quality, collaboration and efficiency. With your technical background and strong communication skills, you easily connect people, teams and stakeholders across locations.

What do you need for this position?

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional level in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or another relevant technical field.
• 5+ years of experience designing and maintaining automated test solutions.
• Experience in software testing and test automation, including test design, test execution and maintenance of automated tests.
• Experience with reusable, compliant test data and test environment management.
• Hands‑on experience with API testing tools such as Postman or similar tooling.
• Hands‑on experience with front‑end test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, FitNesse or comparable solutions.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and automated quality controls.
• Experience with Agile ways of working such as Scrum, Kanban and/or SAFe.
• Ability to apply risk‑based testing and clearly communicate quality risks and test results.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Nice to have:

• Experience with performance, load, stress testing and JMeter experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with reusable, compliant test data and test environment management.
• Knowledge of risk‑based testing and structured methods such as ISTQB and/or TMap.
• Experience within financial services, fintech or other regulated environments.
