KWAN in Portugal is seeking a Robotics QA Engineer to ensure robot software quality across simulated environments. The role blends hands-on test automation with collaboration across Robotics, Backend, DevOps and Product teams in a hybrid setup.

You will design and execute Python-based tests, validate ROS1/ROS2, work with Gazebo simulations, manage test plans in Jira/Xray/Zephyr and contribute to release readiness while maintaining traceability.

Qualificações

• 4–6 years of software quality engineering, robotics/complex systems.
• ROS1/ROS2 knowledge: Topics, Services, Actions, robot state monitoring.
• Python for automated tests, data extraction and analysis.
• Gazebo/Ignition Gazebo validation with scenario creation and headless execution.
• Experience with Jira/Xray/Zephyr and structured test planning/defect tracking.
• B2 English proficiency or higher.

Responsabilidades

We're looking for a Robotics QA Engineer to join KWAN and take on an exciting challenge with a cutting-edge robotics software company building the future of Autonomous Mobile Robot platforms. This is a Hybrid Challenge, with 3 office days per week, for residents in Portugal.

The Challenge:

• Validate robot behaviour across simulation environments, covering navigation, localization, obstacle avoidance and safety-critical functionality;
• Build and maintain Python-based automated test scripts that go well beyond predefined manual execution;
• Own the full regression test lifecycle, from test case design to suite maintenance and release coverage mapping;
• Dig into ROS Bags, application logs and simulation outputs to investigate failures and trace defects to their root cause;
• Work shoulder-to-shoulder with Robotics, Backend, DevOps and Product teams to continuously raise the bar on software quality;
• Keep test repositories, Jira cycles and traceability documentation structured, current and release-ready.

What you bring to the table:

• 4–6 years of experience in software quality engineering, with a clear focus on robotic or complex systems (Academic experience is also valued);
• Solid hands-on knowledge of ROS1 and/or ROS2, including Topics, Services, Actions and robot state monitoring;
• Proficiency in Python for automated test development, data extraction and result analysis;
• Experience validating in simulation environments such as Gazebo or Ignition Gazebo, including scenario creation and headless execution;
• Familiarity with test management tools like Jira, Xray or Zephyr and a structured approach to test planning and defect tracking;
• B2 English proficiency or above.
