Job summary

Nokia, a global leader in connectivity, is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Optical Networks R&D team in Lisbon. You will help shape the future of optical connectivity by embedding quality from requirements through delivery in a multicultural Scrum team.

You will design, implement, and automate tests using Python, pytest, and CI/CD, while applying AI-assisted testing techniques to improve coverage and reliability in AI-driven data center solutions.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Physics, or a related technical field.
• Solid understanding of optical transmission fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python-based test automation and CI/CD integration.
• Knowledge of or hands-on experience with AI/ML applications in software testing, such as AI-assisted automation, defect detection, test-result analysis, or coverage improvement.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong ownership, responsibility, and accountability.
• Clear communication and effective collaboration across teams.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Nice to have: ISTQB certification.

Responsibilities

• Champion quality throughout the full product R&D lifecycle.
• Contribute actively to sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily scrums, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and system architects to refine requirements, define acceptance criteria, identify risks early, and improve testability.
• Design, develop, and execute automated tests using Python and pytest, integrated into CI/CD pipelines and aligned with the team's Definition of Done.
• Apply AI-assisted testing techniques, including test generation, synthetic test data, failure-pattern analysis, and coverage optimization.
• Continuously improve test strategies, automation frameworks, and Agile QA practices.
