Job summary

Hexa Group in Porto is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to ensure the quality and reliability of electronic trading solutions in the banking sector. Based in Porto with a hybrid working model, you will focus on manual testing while contributing to test automation and continuous quality improvement.

You will design and execute functional, integration and performance tests, validate pricing and order workflows, develop test plans, and collaborate with developers and product teams to improve test

Qualifications

• 6+ years in Software QA, preferably banking/fintech/trading.
• Degree in CS/Engineering/Finance or related field.
• Strong understanding of Fixed Income or Derivatives and trading processes.
• Proven manual testing experience on complex, business-critical apps.
• Excellent English, analytical, autonomous and collaborative.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute functional, integration, regression and performance tests for electronic trading applications.
• Validate pricing, order processing, execution and market connectivity workflows.
• Develop and maintain test plans, test cases and execution evidence.
• Verify API interactions, trading messages and data exchanges.
• Identify, document and reproduce defects, collaborating with developers to support resolution.
• Perform latency, load and stress testing to assess system performance.
• Analyze application logs and investigate issues to support root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts and product owners to improve test coverage.
• Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of automated testing for APIs, user interfaces and backend services.

Join Hexa as a Senior QA Engineer and help ensure the quality and reliability of electronic trading solutions within the banking sector. Based in Porto, with a hybrid working model, you will work on Fixed Income applications covering pricing, order processing, trade execution and market connectivity. You will focus primarily on manual testing while contributing to test automation and continuous quality improvement.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Design and execute functional, integration, regression and performance tests for electronic trading applications.
• Validate pricing, order processing, execution and market connectivity workflows.
• Develop and maintain test plans, test cases and execution evidence.
• Verify API interactions, trading messages and data exchanges.
• Identify, document and reproduce defects, collaborating with developers to support resolution.
• Perform latency, load and stress testing to assess system performance.
• Analyze application logs and investigate issues to support root cause analysis.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• At least 6 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, preferably in banking, financial technology or electronic trading.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance or a related field.
• Solid understanding of financial markets, particularly Fixed Income or Derivatives, and trading processes.
• Proven experience in manual testing of complex, business-critical applications.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities and collaborate with technical and business teams.
• Professional working proficiency in English, written and spoken.
• Proactive, adaptable and collaborative mindset.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Manual testing, including functional, integration and regression testing.
• Test planning, test case design and defect management.
• Performance testing, including latency, load and stress testing.
• Electronic trading systems and Fixed Income workflows.
• API testing and XML data validation.
• Application log analysis and troubleshooting.
• Linux environments and basic shell scripting.
• Fundamental algorithms and software development concepts.
• Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with the FIX protocol and electronic trading message validation.
• Test automation using Python or C#.
• Familiarity with testing tools and automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of C#, WPF and trading technology frameworks.
• Professional working proficiency in French.
