Extia is an engineering consultancy prioritising people, well-being, and performance. We seek a Senior QA Engineer / QA Automation Engineer to design and run automated tests, work on AWS-based environments, and translate complex requirements into robust test cases.

You’ll collaborate with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to shape QA strategies, implement testing solutions in Python, and leverage tools like PySpark, Redshift, and Power BI to drive quality across applications.

Qualificações

• 7 years total experience in QA or 3–4 years with international projects.
• Experience designing automated functional and regression tests.
• Hands-on in AWS environments.
• Strong Python knowledge at intermediate level.
• Proficient with PostgreSQL; MySQL/SQL Server a plus.
• Exposure to data/cloud tech: PySpark, AWS Athena, Lambda, Step Functions, Iceberg Tables, Redshift.
• Jira and Git in development and QA lifecycles; Power BI for reporting.
• Interest in AI tools like ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot.

First who:

• Experienced Senior QA Engineer / QA Automation Engineer with around 7 years of overall experience, or 3–4 years with strong international project experience
• Strong experience in designing and implementing functional and regression test automation
• Hands‑on experience working in AWS environments
• Good knowledge of Python, at least at a basic/intermediate level
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL; knowledge of MySQL and SQL Server is a plus
• Exposure to data and cloud technologies such as PySpark, AWS Athena, Lambda, Step Functions, Iceberg Tables, and Redshift
• Comfortable using Jira and Git as part of the development and QA lifecycle
• Experience with Power BI for reporting and data visualization
• Genuine interest in Artificial Intelligence and practical experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT in day-to-day work
• Business-oriented mindset, with a strong interest in understanding functional requirements and business processes
• Fluent English is required; Portuguese is highly valued;

What You'll Do:

• Design, implement, and maintain automated functional and regression tests
• Contribute to the definition and execution of QA strategies and testing approaches
• Analyse business and functional requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios and automated test cases
• Work closely with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure software quality throughout the development lifecycle
• Develop and maintain QA solutions using Python and related automation technologies
• Work with AWS-based environments and cloud services
• Interact with data platforms and technologies such as PostgreSQL, AWS Athena, Lambda, Step Functions, Iceberg Tables, Redshift, and PySpark
• Investigate defects, identify root causes, and collaborate with development teams on their resolution
• Use Jira and Git to manage defects, requirements, test activities, and code
• Create and maintain quality and test reporting, leveraging tools such as Power BI
• Explore and apply AI tools and techniques to improve testing efficiency, productivity, analysis, and software quality
• Act as a bridge between technical, QA, and business perspectives, contributing to both functional and technical discussions

What We're Looking For:

• Strong professional experience in Quality Assurance and Test Automation
• Around 7 years of overall professional experience, or 3–4 years with significant international project exposure
• Proven experience creating and maintaining automated functional and regression tests
• Professional experience with AWS environments
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Python
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL
• Experience or exposure to PySpark, AWS Athena, Lambda, Step Functions, Iceberg Tables, and Redshift
• Experience with Jira and Git
• Knowledge of Power BI for reporting and data analysis
• A strong interest in and practical use of AI tools such as ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot
• Business-oriented mindset and willingness to understand the functional side of applications and business processes
• ISTQB certification is a plus
• Fluent English is mandatory; Portuguese is a plus
