Elastic in Portugal is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for the Elasticsearch - Distributed Systems team, focusing on scale, performance, and resilience in our Serverless offering. You will own end-to-end features across multi-node clusters, improve indexing consistency, maintain cluster coordination, and push shard and data capacity while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

This role requires deep distributed systems expertise, strong Java skills, and a proven track record

Qualificações

• Deep background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
• Strong skills in core Java and data structures, concurrency constructs, and modern language features.
• Proven track record building large-scale distributed systems and delivering end-to-end features.

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and operate core components of serverless Elasticsearch offering.
• Improve indexing/concurrency across multiple machines and ensure data consistency.
• Maintain and evolve cluster coordination for high performance as nodes join/leave.
• Push shard/node capacity and resilience beyond current limits.
• Investigate performance issues and propose robust solutions.
• Own end-to-end investigations and drive resolution with cross-functional teams.
