Claranet Limited in Maia, Portugal, is seeking a Principal Engineer for our Talent Team. You will lead the design and development of scalable, resilient application architectures, drive technical decisions, and mentor engineering teams to deliver high‑quality solutions.

You will work with microservices and event‑driven designs, oversee Azure and GCP cloud platforms, containerized environments, and ensure observability, performance, and reliability across distributed systems.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of experience in application development.
• 6+ years in technical leadership of application solutions.
• Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, cloud platforms (Azure and GCP), and containers.
• Knowledge of agile methodologies and distributed environments.

Your responsibilities include:

• Lead the design and development of scalable and resilient application architectures
• Drive technical decisions and guide engineering teams on best practice
• Influence product evolution with a strong technical perspective
• Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of systems
• Architect and implement microservices and event-driven solution
• Oversee cloud-based solutions (preferably Azure) and containerized environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions
• Ensure observability, monitoring, and system resilience
• Support and mentor engineering teams, fostering technical growth
• Analyze complex problems and propose effective, innovative solutions
• Contribute to continuous improvement and adoption of modern engineering practices

You must have:

• Bachelor’s/Master’sdegree in Computer Engineering or a related field;
• Morethan 12 years of experience in application development;
• Morethan 6 years of experience in technical leadership of application solutions;
• Experiencewith microservices architectures, event-driven architecture, domain-drivendesign, and cloud platforms (Azure and GCP), as well as containers (Docker, Kubernetes), high availability, resilience, and monitoring;
• Experiencein projects involving a wide range of technologies and tools;
• Knowledgeof and experience with agile methodologies;
• Understandingof and familiarity with distributed environments;
• Criticalthinking and decision-making skills;
• Abilityto analyze complex information (essential for new challenges);
• Creativity(as there will be countless opportunities to learn).
