Job summary

Randstad Portugal is seeking a Principal Engineer to join a key client in the Finance sector in a hybrid model in Portugal. You will lead full-stack engineering, define the React Native roadmap, and guide delivery across frontend, mobile, and backend teams.

The ideal candidate has extensive production delivery experience, senior IC background, and hands-on use of AI coding assistants. Experience with .NET or Java/Node.js, Azure, containers, and secure coding is valued.

Qualifications

• Extensive software engineering experience with production systems.
• Experience as a Principal Engineer or equivalent senior IC.
• Frontend/mobile engineering across web and app; React Native is a differentiator.
• Hands-on with AI coding assistants in real delivery.
• Expert knowledge in one backend stack: .NET, plus Java or Node.js.
• Strong Azure, containers, Kubernetes, serverless, and IaC.
• Financial services or regulated industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enable product teams to deliver software more predictably with full-stack expertise and AI-enabled SDLC leadership.
• Define and drive the React Native roadmap while improving mobile app performance, stability, security, and release processes.
• Provide expert guidance across frontend, mobile, backend, APIs, integrations, data persistence, cloud, CI/CD, observability, and production operations.
• Strengthen clean architecture, Domain-Driven Design, secure coding, automated testing, trunk-based development, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
• Embed security by design, threat-aware engineering, and privacy considerations into delivery.
