Job summary

Vestas American Wind Technology seeks a Power Systems Engineer in Electric Models to develop and validate electrical simulation models for wind turbines and plant controllers. The role collaborates with Porto and Denmark teams, sales engineers, and TSOs to meet global certification standards.

The position is hybrid based in Porto, Portugal, with up to 15 travel days per year. A BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering and strong power systems analysis skills are required.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field
• Proficiency in Power Systems steady-state analysis, including load flow and short-circuit analysis, as well as time-domain and frequency-domain modelling, and stability/transient analysis
• Fundamental software and programming skills, including familiarity with languages such as C, C++, Python, and experience with version control systems like Git
• Familiarity with at least one power systems simulation tool, such as Simulink, PSS/E, DigSilent PowerFactory, or PSCAD
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the utmost performance and quality of electrical simulation models for our wind turbines and plant controllers through rigorous development, testing, verification and validation procedures
• Working closely with colleagues in Porto and Denmark, as well as receiving input from Vestas' technical sales engineers and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) worldwide, to ensure our electrical simulation models meet global certification standards
• Engaging in engineering activities to optimize the development and validation processes of electrical simulation models
