Job summary

Axians Portugal is seeking a Platform Engineer to design, build and optimize scalable platform solutions for a growing microservices architecture. You will deliver reliable, automated platform capabilities that enable development teams to build, deploy and operate applications effectively.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams across AWS, Azure and Kubernetes, implement IaC, CI/CD, and secure delivery patterns while driving observability, security and operational maturity.

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE in a complex environment.
• Strong experience with Terraform and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and evolve the internal developer platform for Java/Spring Boot services running on AWS, Azure and Kubernetes.
• Create reusable deployment patterns, Helm charts and self-service templates for containerised apps.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, Ansible and CloudFormation.
• Build and improve CI/CD with GitHub, Jenkins, Argo CD, Maven, Gradle, Nexus and Sonar.
• Enable API and integration delivery across Apigee, OpenAPI, REST, SOAP and gRPC, with OAuth2/OIDC/SAML.
• Support event-driven and data‑integration solutions.
• Provide shared observability capabilities with dashboards, alerts and tracing standards.
• Embed security and compliance into platform defaults for secrets and certificates.
• Partner with engineering teams to improve developer experience.
• Improve platform resilience and automation to reduce toil.
• Track adoption and reliability, evolving the platform with feedback.

We are looking for a Platform Engineer to help design, build, and optimize scalable platform solutions that support our growing microservices architecture. Your mission is to deliver reliable, efficient, and automated platform capabilities that enable development teams to build, deploy, and operate applications effectively. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges, drive platform improvements, and implement best practices that enhance scalability, performance, and operational maturity.

• Design, build and evolve the internal developer platform for Java/Spring Boot services running across AWS, Azure and Kubernetes environments;
• Create reusable deployment patterns, Helm charts and self-service templates for containerised applications using Docker, Kubernetes, etc.;
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, Ansible and CloudFormation, covering environments, networking, identity, secrets, storage and application runtime services;
• Build and improve CI/CD capabilities using GitHub, Jenkins, Argo CD, Maven, Gradle, Nexus and Sonar, enabling secure and automated software delivery;
• Enable reliable API and integration delivery across Apigee, OpenAPI, REST, SOAP and gRPC, including authentication and authorisation patterns based on OAuth2/OIDC, SAML, Azure AD and Azure AD B2C;
• Support event-driven and data-integration solutions;
• Provide shared observability capabilities, including actionable dashboards, alerting and tracing standards;
• Embed security and compliance controls into platform defaults for secrets, vulnerability management, certificates and secure delivery;
• Partner with engineering teams to improve the developer experience for applications using databases/datastores;
• Improve platform resilience, performance and operational readiness through incident learning, runbooks, capacity management and automation that reduces operational toil;
• Track adoption, reliability and delivery outcomes, continuously evolving the platform based on measurable improvements and engineering-team feedback..

Требования:

• Several years of hands‑on experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering or a closely related role in a complex environment;
• Strong practical experience with one major cloud provider, ideally AWS;
• Exposure to Azure is an advantage;
• Experience with infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform and/or cloud-native tooling;
• Hands‑on experience with containers and Kubernetes, including deployment, networking, storage, security and operational troubleshooting;
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, Git‑based workflows, automated testing, artifact management and release practices;
• Experience designing or operating observability, logging and monitoring solutions, and confidence troubleshooting distributed systems;
• Good scripting or software engineering skills, preferably Python;
• Experience with TypeScript, Java or similar languages is welcome;
• Solid knowledge of cloud security fundamentals: identity and access management, secrets management, encryption, network controls and audit logging;
• A product mindset: you listen to engineering teams, simplify their experience and balance standardisation with practical flexibility;
• Clear communication skills in English and confidence working with distributed, cross‑functional and international teams.
