Job summary

Hiscox invites applications for a Platform Engineer to strengthen reliability, security and automation of our software delivery pipelines and hybrid cloud infrastructure. You will join a cross-functional squad to implement IaC, automate pipelines, and promote DevOps maturity across Azure and GCP environments, with on-premises where appropriate.

You will collaborate with software/data engineers, SREs, and SDETs to build secure by design systems, improve monitoring, and enable self-serve reusable

Qualifications

• Hands-on platform engineering with cloud-native services and containers.
• Knowledge of data platforms, orchestration, warehouses, data lakes and lakehouses.
• Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines or similar tools, supported by experienced engineers.
• Experience in DevOps, platform engineering, infrastructure, or operational support.
• Working knowledge of Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep or YAML, with version control and state management.

Responsibilities

• Automation, CI/CD, and DevOps Maturity
• Pipeline Support: Create, maintain, and secure CI/CD pipelines for publishing code to cloud environments (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
• Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Automate cloud and on-premise infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible
• DevOps Culture: Promote DevOps practices within squads to improve automation and ways of working
• Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) & Operational Excellence
• Reliability & Monitoring: Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging across levels
• Incident Management: Participate in Incident Management, RCA activities and preventative measures
• Cost & Efficiency: Identify time-saving and cost-optimizing opportunities
• Resilience: Deliver secure, scalable production and dev/test environments
