Payroll Expertise Team Leader Italy, Portugal, Spain, Bulgaria, Poland (F/M/X)

About the role

  • Lead the Local Payroll Expertise team for Italy, Portugal, Spain, Bulgaria, and Poland, comprising 7 payroll specialists (3 in Italy, 1 in Spain, 1 in Bulgaria, 1 in Portugal, 1 in Poland). The team is part of the Global Payroll and Time department, focusing on delivering local payroll expertise for these countries.
  • Report to the Payroll Manager for Local Payroll Expertise teams, overseeing compliance with local payroll legal, regulatory, and tax rules, and supporting the Global Payroll Operations team.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Ensuring timely and accurate payroll and time activities
    • Leading the team across 5 countries and acting as a global payroll process expert
    • Analyzing legislation and HR agreements, assessing impacts, and creating functional specifications
    • Providing documentation, expertise, and support to stakeholders
    • Participating in payroll projects and local implementations
    • Monitoring KPIs and SLAs, maintaining a KPI-driven team
    • Managing relationships with external payroll providers
  • This is a permanent position with a hybrid working model.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or related field
  • Significant experience in one of the 5 countries within an industrial context
  • Payroll knowledge in one of the countries is a plus
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese; Italian is a plus
  • Deep knowledge of HR systems such as SAP HR, payroll, and time management systems
  • Proficient in managing large data sets and advanced Excel skills
  • Key behaviors include customer orientation, initiative, teamwork, and strong communication skills
