Alter Solutions is seeking a Senior Network Automation Engineer in Porto to design and maintain end-to-end network automation frameworks. You will lead Python and Ansible-driven solutions, build reusable modules, and create automation workflows with Nornir, Netmiko, and NAPALM.

We are looking for a Senior Network Automation Engineer to join an international project focused on designing, developing, and maintaining end-to-end network automation frameworks.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Python, Ansible, and Network Automation, combining software development skills with solid networking knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain complete network automation frameworks using Python and Ansible.
• Build reusable Ansible roles, collections, custom modules, and plugins.
• Develop Python libraries, CLI tools, and automation workflows using Nornir, Netmiko, NAPALM, or similar tools.
• Implement automated network configuration, validation, deployment, and rollback processes.
• Integrate automation solutions with NetBox, Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), GitLab CI/Jenkins, and APIs.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, validation, and deployment.
• Implement monitoring, compliance checks, configuration backups, and reporting.
• Automate network operations across Cisco, Juniper, Arista, and Fortinet environments.

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience in Network Automation with Python and Ansible.
• Proven experience designing and developing complete automation frameworks, not just individual scripts or playbooks.
• Advanced knowledge of Ansible roles, collections, custom modules, and Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
• Strong Python development skills, including reusable libraries, APIs, and automated testing.
• Experience with Jinja2, YAML/JSON, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of network automation tools such as Nornir, Netmiko, NAPALM, or PyEZ.
• Experience with network protocols including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, and LACP.
• Knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or Fortinet network environments.
• Experience with automated validation, configuration management, and rollback strategies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work autonomously.
