Yazaki Europe Middle East and Africa in Ovar, Portugal, is seeking a Metrology & Laboratory Specialist to join our automotive quality lab. The role focuses on dimensional inspection, testing, and equipment management in a fast-paced environment.

You will perform 2D/3D measurements, CT scans, read GD&T drawings, and develop lab procedures. A technical education and hands-on experience with CMMs and CT is preferred, along with knowledge of IATF 16949 and MSA/R&R.

Qualificações

  • Technical education in Metrology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality, Mechatronics or a related technical field.
  • Previous professional experience in metrology, dimensional inspection or laboratory activities, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Strong knowledge of 2D and 3D dimensional inspection.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, tolerances and GD&T.
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and dimensional measurement equipment.
  • Experience with X-Ray Computed Tomography (CT Scan) will be highly valued.
  • Knowledge of calibration and measurement equipment management.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical tools, SPC and Measurement System Analysis (MSA/R&R).
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 and automotive quality requirements will be valued.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Good level of English, minimum B2, both written and spoken.

Responsabilidades

  • Perform 2D and 3D dimensional inspections using appropriate measurement equipment and techniques.
  • Perform dimensional inspection and analysis using X-Ray Computed Tomography (CT Scan).
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, tolerances and GD&T requirements.
  • Analyse test methods, perform tests, evaluate results and prepare technical test reports.
  • Ensure the correct management, calibration, maintenance and verification of measurement and test equipment.
  • Support Measurement System Analysis activities, including R&R studies.
  • Develop and update equipment operating instructions, internal test methods and laboratory procedures.
  • Identify abnormalities during testing or inspection activities, perform initial analysis and support the definition of corrective actions.
  • Support the investigation and analysis of internal and customer quality claims.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions and verify their effectiveness.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety and Laboratory Management System requirements.
  • Maintain laboratory organization and 5S standards.
  • Communicate directly with internal and external customers regarding technical clarification, test status and priorities.
  • Identify and propose improvements to inspection methods, testing processes and laboratory efficiency.
  • Support the preparation of test costs and quotations when required.

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Metrology & Laboratory Technician to support dimensional inspection, testing, equipment management and quality activities within an automotive industry environment.

The selected candidate will be responsible for performing and analysing dimensional inspections and laboratory tests, ensuring reliable results, compliance with internal and customer requirements, and continuous improvement of laboratory and metrology processes.

Main Responsibilities
