University of Algarve invites applications for a First Stage Researcher grant to support the Carob4All project. The successful candidate will perform DNA extraction and metagenomic analysis of soil samples, focusing on rhizosphere microbiomes and mycorrhizal organisms.

The role requires a Master’s degree and strong skills in microbiology, sequencing, and bioinformatics, with collaboration in reporting and dissemination of results.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or related fields.
• Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology or related fields.
• Fluency in Portuguese and driving license for field work.

Responsabilidades

• Collect soil and root samples and perform DNA extraction.
• Conduct metagenomic analysis of soil under different carob varieties.
• Characterize rhizosphere and root microbiome.
• Isolate and characterize mycorrhizal microorganisms.
• Assist in preparing technical and scientific reports.
