Datamentors, a robotics startup based in Madeira, is hiring a founding mechanical/electromechanical engineer to design the inside of our quadruped, mobile and humanoid robot lines. You will own the mechanical assemblies, drivetrains and electronics integration from concept to repeatable production.

You will drive DFM and FMEA, collaborate with Product Designers on body and joints, and lead PCB/wiring integration for a seamless manufacturing flow.

Qualificações

• 5+ years in mechatronic or electromechanical engineering, ideally on robots or comparable products.
• Hands-on experience taking a prototype through to repeatable assembly.
• Familiar with motors, sensors, batteries and onboard compute.

• Drive Design For Manufacturability (DFM) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

• Sit between R&D and Manufacturing — keep both honest.

Datamentors is a robotics startup building an agnostic orchestration platform that allows companies to manage, monitor, and control multiple robots and robotic systems from a single interface. We're also developing custom Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models that enable natural-language reasoning and autonomy across diverse robot types and industries. Our mission is to make robotics more accessible, intelligent, and scalable — across sectors from hospitality and healthcare to defense and sports facility management. Think of it as an operating system for any robot, with an expanding library of intelligent capabilities. We are self-funded and currently building the v1 platform with our first pilot partners in the energy, hospitality and sports sectors

About the Role

Design the inside of the robot — the structure (mechanical) and the circuit boards (electronics) — for our quadruped, mobile and humanoid lines.

Required Skills

• 5+ years in mechatronic or electromechanical engineering, ideally on robots or comparable products
• Strong CAD (SolidWorks, Onshape or similar) and PCB design tooling
• Hands-on experience taking a prototype through to repeatable assembly
• Familiar with motors, sensors, batteries and onboard compute
• Robotics, drones or automotive background a strong plus
