Job summary

Tech4home, a leader in the remote-control sector in Portugal, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the team and drive the design of mechanical systems for smart devices. You will collaborate with electronics, software, and industrial design teams to ensure robust, manufacturable solutions from prototype to mass production.

Ideal candidates have a mechanical engineering background, 2+ years of experience, and strong CAD (PTC Creo) and FEM/FEA skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong 3D modelling and CAD skills, preferably PTC Creo.
  • Solid knowledge of materials, tolerancing, and manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Experience with FEM/FEA.
  • Ability to produce and interpret detailed technical drawings.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems for remote control and smart devices.
  • Define solutions that integrate mechanics with electronics and software (mechatronics).
  • Participate in defining the technical design of new products, focusing on functionality, reliability, and lifespan.
  • Collaborate with industrial designers, and electronic and software engineers to ensure mechanical components support product requirements.
  • Create physical prototypes using 3D printing or other rapid manufacturing methods.
  • Conduct usability, functional, endurance, wear, and stress testing on products.
  • Adjust the design based on feedback from testing and the quality team.
  • Produce detailed technical drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Continuously evaluate product performance and propose improvements (design for manufacturing, cost reduction, assembly efficiency).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues reported by production, maintenance, or customers.
  • Oversee the transition from prototype to mass production.
  • Provide technical specifications and support to suppliers and subcontractors.

Now, we’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical systems for remote control and smart devices

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role

  • Experience with mechanical sizing and structural analysis (FEM/FEA)
  • Ability to produce and interpret detailed technical drawings
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Availability to travel to suppliers
  • Organised and detail-oriented, able to manage deadlines and priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Always eager to learn and improve
Nice to have:
  • Experience with plastic injection moulding and DFM/DFA
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers
