Pwc Luxembourg is hiring a Manager (m/f/d) in Actuarial and Risk Modelling Services (ARMS)
PwC Services Portugal (PSP) is a joint venture between PwC Luxembourg and PwC Portugal, serving as an integral extension of PwC Luxembourg. Our growing team operates as an acceleration center supporting PwC Luxembourg’s clients. Leveraging a unique pool of talented professionals based in Matosinhos, our operating model ensures scalability, consistency, and quality in service delivery by integrating seamlessly into PwC Luxembourg’s operations and addressing talent attraction challenges sustainably.
PSP provides a range of services, including Assurance Audit (spanning all industries, with a particular focus on Real Estate and Private Equity), Broader Assurance Services, Tax (including Managed Services, Corporate Tax, VAT, and Accounting), and Advisory (specializing in the Global Fund Industry and Real Estate Valuation).
Your role will involve working with the ARMS team on actuarial projects alongside colleagues from different teams with diverse backgrounds to provide our clients with the best possible solutions. Depending on the project, you will either manage it or carry out the analytical work yourself.
Be a Part Of Our Team Where You Will
- Provide actuarial consulting services, including risk pricing, reinsurance optimisation, business plan review and development, claims reserve review, risk and capital modelling, and other actuarial projects;
- Perform reserving analysis, backtesting and valuation with a strong focus on business drivers, ensuring reserve adequacy aligns with regulatory requirements and translate technical insights into actionable recommendations for management and stakeholders;
- Support/lead Solvency II reviews for insurers, including Solvency II balance sheets, QRTs and ORSAs;
- Support insurance regulation-related projects as subject matter experts (SMEs) in insurance, such as local regulation, IFRS 17 accounting, transfer pricing, POG/VFM, etc;
- Work closely with audit teams to provide actuarial support to our audit practice;
- Support the finance and tech transformation journeys of clients with subject matter expertise in reinsurance, risk pricing and reserving;
- Lead and deliver actuarial projects focused on analyzing claims experience and development patterns, assessing reserving implications, and quantifying the impact on loss ratios and profitability to support strategic decision‑making and improve overall efficiency;
- Support the Corporate Finance, M&A and Strategy teams by providing expert support for business transactions, portfolio transfers, actuarial due diligence projects and reserves/provision certifications;
- Assist in the continued growth and development of PwC’s actuarial practice;
- Supervise and coach junior actuarial staff.
Let’s Talk About You. We Expect That …
- You have significant progress in the examination process towards becoming a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (or an equivalent actuarial association in a European country);
- You have at least 5 years of experience in reserving, pricing, capital or risk modelling in insurance industry and/or consultancy;
- You demonstrate solid understanding of standard life and/or non‑life actuarial practices under Solvency II, complemented by expertise in one or more related areas such as Luxembourg GAAP, IFRS17 reporting, and regulatory compliance frameworks;
- You developed wider commercial awareness and understanding of the business and regulatory issues facing the insurance industry;
- You enjoy working in a practical and creative manner, constantly analysing and solving new challenges. You inspire and retain clients thanks to your advisory skills;
- You have good command of the English language. Fluency in French is considered an advantage;
- You enjoy working in a team. You want to develop, build relationships and bring out the best in yourself and your colleagues;
- You are proficient in specialised actuarial software in one of areas such as pricing, reserving, capital management.
