Xelerate in Portugal is seeking an experienced engineer to turn AI proofs of concept into reliable, production-grade agent systems for core industrial workflows. You will design and refine intelligent agents for tasks like quality report analysis, CAD reviews, and compliance checks.

In this role, you will turn AI proofs of concept into reliable, production-grade agentic systems for core industrial workflows. You will design and refine intelligent agents for tasks like quality report analysis, requirements matching, CAD model reviews, and compliance checks. By building advanced retrieval strategies, multi-agent systems, and evaluation frameworks, you will transform cutting-edge AI into practical engineering tools.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and continuously refine production-grade LLM agents utilizing RAG pipelines, tool use, and multi-step reasoning models.
• Design and optimize sophisticated retrieval strategies including advanced chunking, vector database embeddings, and hybrid search methods.
• Contribute to a robust evaluation framework to continuously measure answer quality, benchmark performance, and mitigate hallucination risks.
• Support complex data ingestion across heterogeneous, unstructured sources using Azure Document Intelligence for OCR and structured data extraction.
• Bring technical expertise to bring new roadmap use cases into production, including automated review of CAD models/technical drawings and safety-critical document consistency checks.
• Help shape in-house multi-agent orchestration architecture as Witzenmann scales AI directly into core engineering domains.

Your Skills and Experiences:

• Professional experience in software engineering, data science, or system design, with hands-on experience building and deploying LLM applications and AI systems.
• Strong, production-proven Python skills combined with experience working in cloud ecosystems (Azure AI Foundry preferred).
• Practical familiarity with RAG pipelines, vector databases, embedding models, and agentic workflows (experience with Claude Code or similar agent tooling is a plus).
• High level of personal ownership, strong critical thinking, and a self-directed mindset comfortable with ambiguity in a remote-first team.
• Excellent communication skills in English to explain complex AI architectures to cross-functional and non-technical stakeholders.
