About the Role
We are looking for a hands‑on Lead Web Developer to take technical ownership of our web platform and help deliver high‑quality, production‑ready features. You should be a full‑stack developer with strong backend capability, comfortable shipping independently, and collaborating with product/design and external contractors.
Product scope and feature direction will be defined by the Head of Engineering and Head of Product, and designs will be provided by UI/UX designers. Your focus will be on high‑quality implementation, technical stewardship, and reliable delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate requirements and designs into high‑quality production features
- Ship backend and full‑stack code independently on a weekly basis
- Break large features into milestones, plan technical execution, and deliver reliably
- Build and maintain our Laravel backend, core APIs, and systems integrations
- Ensure performance, scalability, and maintainability
- Implement integrations with external services (payments, auth, analytics, etc.)
- Implement and refine UI in React when needed
- Review and integrate code from external frontend and native app contractors
- Maintain consistent standards and architectural coherence
- Maintain and evolve CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
- Support application monitoring, logging, metrics, and observability practices
- Advocate for quality, documentation, and maintainable systems
- Work closely with Head of Engineering on architecture and platform direction
- Collaborate with Head of Product and designers to clarify requirements and feasibility
- Provide feedback that improves product decisions and implementation efficiency
Requirements
Must‑Haves
- 4+ years experience building and shipping digital products
- Solid React competence and ability to deliver full‑stack features
- Experience building APIs and integrating third‑party services (e.g., SSO, payments)
- Hands‑on experience with AWS or other cloud‑based web infrastructure providers
- Experience with video/media delivery pipelines (streaming, encoding, CDN management, etc.)
- Comfortable working autonomously and delivering end‑to‑end solutions
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in async, startup‑style environment
- Familiarity with CI/CD and automated testing workflows
Nice‑to‑Haves
- Prior experience as lead or primary engineer in a startup or lean tech team
- Exposure to mobile/native development or interest in web‑to‑native migration
- Experience with analytics/monitoring tools (Amplitude, Segment, Sentry, etc.)
- Passion for sports technology and emerging production‑scale systems
