Job summary

Marsh is seeking a Lead Engineer for the Vulcan Platform Team to provide hands-on architecture and technical leadership. You will shape engineering standards, drive platform improvements and govern secure, scalable data solutions using AWS and Databricks.

The role involves mentoring engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enable high-quality data products. You will lead design and delivery of lakehouse-oriented architectures, automation, observability, and cost-efficient

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field.
• Significant software/platform engineering or data engineering experience, with time in a lead role.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and delivering AWS-based solutions.
• Experience with Databricks or similar lakehouse tech in enterprise environments.
• Proven ability to lead engineers and drive delivery across cross-functional teams.
• Experience with platform automation, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• Familiarity with security, risk, and compliance in governed ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across platform design, delivery and optimisation.
• Lead and mentor engineers within the Vulcan Platform Team.
• Set engineering standards for quality, testing, CI/CD and operations.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, security and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Oversee data pipelines, platform services and data-processing patterns using AWS and Databricks.
