Job summary

Planck Technologies seeks an experienced Data Engineer to lead our client's data and analytics initiatives on Google Cloud Platform. You will design, build and optimize scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions, while guiding technical decisions and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Candidates should have 7+ years in data engineering, deep BigQuery and SQL experience, strong Python and dbt skills, and the ability to align engineering work with business goals.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, Cloud Data Engineering, or a related technical role.
• Have strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Have advanced experience with BigQuery, including SQL development, data modelling and query optimization.
• Have strong English communication skills.
• Be available to work primarily during US Eastern Time (ET) business hours or Portugal business hours, depending on the position.
• Be available to start ASAP.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the US Commercial GCP Data Platform.
• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines, models, datasets and analytics solutions.
• Support Commercial, HEOR, Finance and other enterprise data initiatives.
• Guide architecture and solution design decisions.
• Lead data modelling activities, including logical and physical models.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, analysts, product owners and business stakeholders.
• Participate in technical design sessions, brainstorming and code reviews.
• Develop and optimize solutions using BigQuery, Cloud Storage, IAM and other GCP services.
• Troubleshoot data pipeline, data quality, performance and integration issues across DEV, UAT and PROD.
• Promote security, governance, data quality and engineering best practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve scalability, automation, observability and performance.
• Maintain technical documentation, data models and engineering standards.

Job Description:

Minimum experience required:

• 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, Cloud Data Engineering, or a related technical role.

It is mandatory that you:

• Have strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Have advanced experience with BigQuery, including SQL development, data modelling and query optimization.
• Have strong English communication skills.
• Be available to work primarily during US Eastern Time (ET) business hours or Portugal business hours, depending on the position.

Requirements:

• Strong experience designing, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines, data models and analytics solutions on GCP.
• Advanced knowledge of BigQuery and large-scale analytical workloads.
• Experience with SQL, Python, dbt and data orchestration technologies.
• Experience with Git-based development and CI/CD practices, preferably using GitLab.
• Working knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Ability to combine hands‑on engineering with technical leadership.
• Experience with data architecture, solution design, technical reviews and engineering standards.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with international teams.
• French proficiency is a plus.
