A research institute in Portugal is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Bioinformatics. Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica (iBET), Oeiras, Portugal, has an open position for a postdoctoral research fellowship in the field of Bioinformatics available within the project SinTra - Workflows for single-cell transcriptomics in human cell-based bioprocesses and in vitro models , financed by iBETXplore through internal funds.

Skills/Qualifications

• Strong expertise and hands-on experience in transcriptomics, preferably in single-cell transcriptomics data, including preprocessing pipelines and downstream analyses, like differential gene expression and pathway/gene set enrichment analysis.
• Research background in neuroinflammation or immunosuppression-related diseases is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with integrating multi-omics datasets and applying computational approaches for integrative analysis is highly desirable.
• Experience with computational and statistical approaches, including machine learning algorithms, for analyzing biological data.
• Hands-on experience in programming environments like Bash, R, or Python.
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Specific Requirements

• Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related discipline, with a track record of publishing in the field, obtained within the last 3 years.

Work place: The project will be developed at the Advanced Cell Models Laboratory of Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica , under the scientific supervision Dr. Catarina Brito, in collaboration with Dr. Inês Isidro’s Biosystems and Data Science Group.

Fellowship Duration: The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months, eventually renewed until the end of project, without prejudice of the maximum limits foreseen by law. The expected starting date is 1 of December 2025.

A list with the order of selection of candidates will be published in a public and visible place at the Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica (www.ibet.pt ), and the selected candidate will be notified by e-mail.

Timing and Application Format: Applications will be accepted from September 15 to October 3, 2025.
