Job summary

Sovos is hiring a Junior IPT Compliance Analyst in Portugal. You will support accurate preparation and filing of Insurance Premium Tax returns, while building expertise from day one. Full training is provided and you’ll take on increasing responsibility as you grow in the role.

You’ll engage with client portfolios, leverage AI-assisted tools, and ensure compliance deadlines are met. This role suits a proactive learner eager to develop in tax compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in client service, administration, or analytics.
• Interest in finance, accounting, or data and compliance.
• Comfort with MS Office and ability to learn Excel quickly.

The Role

At Sovos, we're transforming how organisations tackle the complexities of tax compliance, and we need people who care deeply about precision and client service to help us get there. As a member of our growing Compliance Services team in Portugal, you'll support the accurate preparation and filing of Insurance Premium Tax returns while building real expertise from day one. Full training is provided, and you'll take on increasing responsibility as you grow into the role.

More specifically, you will:

• Act as the first point of contact for routine questions from your client portfolio, building trusted relationships.
• Validate client Insurance Premium Tax data using in-house software and AI-assisted tools to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Assist in confirming tax amounts due and help create accurate tax returns under guidance from experienced team members.
• Ensure all data is complete and returns are submitted within strict legal deadlines.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver seamless service and support business operations.

What You Bring to Sovos

• You bring client service, administrative, or analytical experience — whether from internships, university projects, or other work.
• You have an interest in client service, finance, accounting, or working with data, and you're eager to build expertise in compliance.
• You're comfortable using MS Office and have basic knowledge of Excel, or you're ready to learn it quickly.
• You have strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet legal deadlines.
• You're comfortable working independently and leveraging AI-assisted workflows in a dynamic environment where priorities can shift as client needs and regulations evolve.
• You bring a positive, solutions-oriented attitude and a genuine willingness to learn new skills and tools.
• Additional European languages are an advantage and you'll have the opportunity to use them.
• Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire.
