Job summary

CCMAR – Centro de Ciências do Mar do Algarve in Lisbon seeks a Junior Researcher in Ecology and Natural Resources Management to carry out research and development activities. The position involves fieldwork, data management, and contributing to publications, under a temporary contract starting December 2026.

Ideal candidates hold a PhD in Marine Ecology or related field, with experience in acoustic telemetry and English proficiency.

Qualifications

• Hold a PhD in Marine Ecology or related field.
• Experience in acoustic telemetry, including fish tagging, data management and analysis.
• Experience in leading scientific publications and managing research outputs.
• Strong oral and written English skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on project management.
• Participate in fieldwork, including fish capture and tagging and acoustic receiver deployment and maintenance.
• Maintain the acoustic detections database up to date.
• Contribute toward project reporting and scientific publications.
