act digital EMEA - Alter Solutions in Porto is seeking a Senior Java Backend Engineer to design and develop cloud-native, scalable backend systems.

You will work in an international engineering team focusing on backend Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST and GraphQL, with emphasis on code quality, testing and DevOps practices.

Hybrid work model with two days per week in the Porto office, collaborating across functional teams to deliver robust software.

Qualificações

• 6+ years of experience with Java (17/21).
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and cloud-native backend design.
• Solid knowledge of Microservices, REST APIs, GraphQL Federation.
• Angular experience in a backend/integration context.
• Experience with unit and integration testing, TDD.
• Familiarity with MongoDB and MySQL; proficient in common tooling (JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Nexus).
• Awareness of Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, BDD/TDD, and Pair Programming.

We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer with strong experience in designing and developing cloud-native, scalable applications.

The role focuses on backend development with Java, working within an international and collaborative engineering environment.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience with Java, including versions 17 and 21.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot
• Strong knowledge of Microservices, SOA, REST APIs, and GraphQL Federation.
• Experience with Angular in a backend/integration context.
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and TDD.
• Knowledge of MongoDB and MySQL.
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Nexus, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD, BDD/TDD, and Pair Programming.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and best practices.

Nice to Have

• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms.
• Knowledge of API security standards (OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect).
• Experience in enterprise-scale or cloud transformation projects.

Work Model

Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office (Porto).
