Syone is looking for a skilled Java Developer to join their team in Lisbon. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, ensuring high code quality and performance. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Java and Spring, with solid knowledge of RESTful APIs and backend service design.

Syone is looking for a Java Developer for one of our best clients.

What you'll do:

You will contribute to the design, development, and evolution of a scalable, robust solution, working closely with business analysts, architects, and other development teams in an agile environment.

Main Tasks:

• Design, develop, and maintain Java‑based backend services and components for the clients platform
• Contribute to the delivery of core and transversal features, as well as entity‑specific requirements
• Ensure high code quality through unit testing, code reviews, and adherence to development standards
• Collaborate with business analysts and product owners to translate functional requirements into technical solutions
• Proactively identify technical improvements to enhance performance, security, and maintainability
• Support deployment activities and contribute to production stability when required

Technical skills:

• Strong experience in Java (8+) and Spring / Spring Boot
• Solid knowledge of RESTful APIs and backend service design
• Experience with relational databases (e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (Git)
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments
• Good understanding of non‑functional requirements: performance, security, scalability

Nice to Have

• Experience in banking or financial services, ideally in Front Office or risk‑related systems
• Exposure to microservices architectures
• Familiarity with cloud or container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of messaging systems or event‑driven architectures

Languages

• English - Mandatory to be fluent
