Job summary

act digital in Lisbon is seeking a Mid-Level Java Backend Engineer to join a squad responsible for Checkout, MyAccount, and ODR Processing. You will own features from design to deployment, work with Java microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs, IAM, and AWS SQS/Solace.

You will contribute to architecture decisions and engineering standards across the squad. The role requires ~4 years of software engineering experience, strong Java backend and API design skills, and proficiency in English and Portuguese

Qualifications

• Around 4 years of professional Software Engineering experience.
• Strong professional experience with Java backend development.
• Experience developing microservices.
• Experience designing and implementing APIs.
• Good understanding of distributed application architectures.
• Experience with automated testing and code reviews.
• English and Portuguese at C1 level.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java microservices.
• Build new capabilities for Checkout, MyAccount, and ODR Processing products.
• Develop robust and maintainable backend components.
• Contribute to solution design and technical architecture.
• Troubleshoot complex application issues and implement sustainable solutions.
• Follow software engineering and clean-code best practices.
• Own features through architecture, development, tests, reviews, and deployment.
• Design and maintain RESTful APIs and GraphQL APIs with OpenAPI specs.
• Integrate authentication and authorization (Keycloak, Okta, OIDC) and RBAC.
