Swisscom IT service partner in Lisbon is seeking an AI Platform Engineer to join an international DevOps team. You will deploy and operate private cloud and container infrastructure on OpenStack and Kubernetes, automate workflows with Python and Ansible, and contribute to scalable services across CET time.

The role requires 3+ years in cloud infrastructure or DevOps, a CS degree, strong Linux, and hands-on OpenStack, Kubernetes, and GitLab CI.

Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Strong Kubernetes and OpenStack hands-on experience.
• Good Linux and data centre networking knowledge.
• Experience with Python and Ansible automation.
• Git in a team-based workflow and GitLab CI pipelines.

Responsabilités

• Deploy, configure and operate private cloud and container infra on OpenStack and Kubernetes.
• Investigate and fix issues across Linux OS to switch fabric.
• Automate and improve operability of services at scale.
• Maintain and improve monitoring and alerting.
• Build automation and tooling in Python and Ansible, via GitLab CI.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and travel to Switzerland (1–2 times per year).

The team / project

You will join an international team of DevOps engineers based in Bern and Zurich, responsible for Swisscom’s Telco Cloud Infrastructure (TCI), built on Kubernetes and OpenStack. As part of the TCI Agile Release Train, the team provides the software infrastructure for the cloudification of Swisscom’s telco services, such as mobile voice and data, enterprise remote connectivity and 5G.

The team works in an agile setup with a strong focus on knowledge sharing and continuous learning of new technologies. You will work closely with your colleagues in Switzerland, on Swiss time (CET, 1 hour ahead of Lisbon). This is an internal Swisscom platform, not a consulting project.

What you’ll do

• Cloud infrastructure: Deploy, configure and operate private cloud and container infrastructure on OpenStack and Kubernetes.
• Troubleshooting: Investigate and fix issues across multiple layers, from the Linux OS to the switch fabric.
• Automation & operability: Automate and improve the operability of our services so they run reliably at scale.
• Monitoring: Maintain and improve our monitoring and alerting solution.
• Tooling: Build automation and tooling in Python and Ansible, delivered through GitLab CI.
• Operations: Take part in the 24/7 on-call rotation and handle operational incidents.

Job requirements

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, system engineering or DevOps

Cloud & Linux

• University degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong understanding and hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and OpenStack.
• Good knowledge of Linux and virtualisation.
• Experience with Linux and data centre networking.

Development & Automation

• Experience with automation in Python and Ansible, writing clean, maintainable code.
• Confident with Git in a team-based development workflow.
• Hands‑on experience with GitLab CI pipelines.

Soft Skills

• Strong documentation skills: structured, careful and precise.
• Self‑organised, proactive and focused on practical delivery.
• Very good written and spoken English (at least B2 level).
• Availability for the 24/7 on-call rotation and for travel to Switzerland (around 1–2 times per year).

Nice to have

• Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN).
• Knowledge of storage and hardware.
• Software development experience.
• German, French or Italian language skills.
