Colégio Internacional de Vilamoura (CIV) part of Inspired Education Group seeks an enthusiastic Chemistry & Science Teacher to deliver IB DP (HL/SL) and Cambridge IGCSE science, and to teach general science at Key Stage 3 in Vilamoura, Portugal.

You will guide inquiry-based learning, lead labs with safety standards, and prepare students for external examinations while supporting pastoral care and a vibrant school community.

Qualificações

• University degree in Chemistry or closely related field.
• Validated teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent).
• Proven experience teaching IBDP Chemistry and Cambridge IGCSE in international settings.
• Native or near-native English with strong cross-cultural communication.

Responsabilidades

• Plan and deliver rigorous, inquiry-based Chemistry lessons for IB DP (HL/SL) and Cambridge IGCSE, plus general Science for Key Stage 3.
• Design learning strategies to meet diverse linguistic and academic needs.
• Lead hands-on laboratory experiments with strict health and safety compliance.
• Prepare senior students for Cambridge IGCSE and IB Diploma examinations.
• Assess, track and report student progress with quality feedback to parents.
• Act as a Form Tutor, supporting wellbeing and academic growth.
• Collaborate with the Science Department to share resources and build cross-curricular projects.
• Lead extracurricular activities, science clubs or community events.

ROLE SUMMARY:

Colégio Internacional de Vilamoura (CIV) is the leading international school in the South of Portugal, offering a rich academic environment grounded in humanistic and global values. As a school offering both the Cambridge International curriculum and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, we seek an enthusiastic, highly qualified, and student-centered Chemistry & Science Teacher. The successful candidate will teach general Science across Key Stage 3 and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based Chemistry lessons for IGCSE and IBDP students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and deliver rigorous, inquiry-based Chemistry lessons for IBDP (HL/SL) and Cambridge IGCSE, as well as general Science at Key Stage 3.
• Design and implement effective learning strategies to meet the diverse academic and linguistic needs of an international student body.
  
• Lead hands‑on laboratory experiments, ensuring strict compliance with all health, safety, and eco‑school regulations.
  
• Prepare senior students thoroughly for external Cambridge IGCSE and IB Diploma examinations.
  
• Assess, track, and record student progress consistently, providing high-quality feedback to students and regular academic reports to parents.
  
• Act as a Form Tutor, supporting the holistic well‑being, pastoral care, and academic growth of a designated group of students.
  
• Collaborate closely with the Science Department to develop resources, share best practices, and build cross‑curricular projects.
  
• Contribute actively to the wider school life by leading extracurricular activities, science clubs, or community events.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Hold a University degree (BSc or higher) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific field.
• Possess a recognized teaching qualification such as a PGCE, QTS, or equivalent international teaching certification.
• Have proven experience teaching IBDP Chemistry and Cambridge IGCSE Science within an international or multicultural school setting.
• Demonstrate native or near‑native fluency in English (written and spoken), with strong cross‑cultural communication skills.
• Show proficiency in integrating educational technology, digital tools, and data loggers into the science curriculum.
• Display a positive, open‑minded, and collaborative approach aligned with CIV’s humanistic and democratic values.
• Exhibit exceptional organizational and classroom management skills, with a passion for inspiring a love for scientific inquiry.
